Directx

I recently got a webcam and software prompted me to
download latest version of Directx. I downloaded from
Microsoft.com but for some reason the download failed so
I
tried again. This time the download seemed to work but
the installation failed and now has failed every single
time I try. I can send video and audio through
Netmeeting
but I cannot receive video or audio. I think the two
issues are related. I have Windows ME, my ISP is AOL and
I use a dial up 56k modem. Please help!!

This will be of no help at all but I gather that DirectX is a pain (ie
impossible) to remove. An application we were developing in my last job used
DirectX 6 and installing a later version of DirectX broke it. The only
solution was to reformat the drive and reinstall. Fortunately we had a disk
image with everything installed. Its possible that your options are
restricted to reformatting and re-installing or waiting for a later version
of DirectX and hoping that fixes it.

Another option may be to download the latest drivers & software for the
webcam. Look on the manufacturer's website.
