I have installed a usb device ( card reader ) The device
manager is picking it and says all is ok. The problem is
that a drive letter is not being allocated in My Computer.
The PC is not networked and is only allocated to drive E:,
but will not show drives F G H & I as per my PC at work
which is runiinig on XP.

What happens when you insert a card? Does Explorer see it? Have you possibly
used a tool such as TweakUI to hide drives in Explorer?
