Windows ME would not load, could not start into Safe Mode,
eventually got through to partial loading and the
following message occurred during "Scandisk":
A logical assertion has failed:
Expression: index < c
Source: line 242 of msprint.c
Was able to finish scandisk, reboot and Start-up options
page loaded. Attempted Safe Mode initially, then Normal,
and eventually each option with the following error
appearing:
Following file missing or corrupt:
c:\windows\IFSHLP.SYS
c:\windows\system\vmm32.vxd
Gateway has provided restore CD but do not want to lose
ANY data. Any suggestions?????
