Hello,

To my chagrin these components have once again disappeared
together with any info I may have had on the matter.

May I please receive the ways and means of restoring them?

Thanks.

Ben.

An edit.

I get the following error messages:

(On clicking Windows Components)
"Rundll32.
An error has occured in your program. To keep working
anyway, click Ignore..."

then this:

"Rundll32 has caused an error in SETUPXDLL Rundll32 will
now close..."

Any improvement?

Ben,

Your setupx.dll error is usually the result of your having deleted some
empty folders in Program Files that were placed there when Win Me was
installed that are used for optional components of Win Me and then using a
registry cleaner such as EasyCleaner which removed some necessary entries
required for Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup to function because the
target folders were no longer present. You can avoid this happening in future
by not deleting such folders and similarly not deleting any values in the key
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Set up\VarLDID

I would have attached a zip file containing a reg file containing all of the
required entries to my reply but since you are using the web interface to
these newsgroups rather than a proper newsreader you would never see the
attachment. If you get to see this reply and want me to send you the repair
patch please e-mail me at .

Ben,

I've just replied sending you a zipped registry file you can merge with your
registry (right click and select Merge) to add back the missing entries. You
can check the reg file first by opening it with notepad to confirm I've
included nothing untoward. :-)

Cheers,

Hello Mike,

No, that was written in faith. This to tell that a
necessarily delayed restart has allowed the rabbit to leap
out of the hat. I find it all magical.

Thanks, Mike.

Ben.
