lost book with key code and computers is crashed

Have Windows ME and have lost the book with the key code
to it. Any way i can find the key code? Also can't get
it off the computer becase it's crashed.

How crashed is it? Can you still use Safe Mode? Are you able to start
the system with a WinME Bootfloppy ?
