I recently had my computer repaired. Now the sound is not
there. Is there any other way than: start, control panel,
sound?

Look for the speaker icon at the bottom right corner of your monitor. SINGLE
click the icon -- make sure mute is not on -- adjust volume as desired.

If applicable, either :-

Take your computer back to whoever 'repaired it for you and get them to
repair it properly - or get your money back!!

and/or

Confirm in your BIOS that your 'on-board' sound card is enabled - NB if
applicable!!
(see user handbook)

and/or

Go into Control Panel | Sounds and Multimedia\Sounds and make sure the Show
volume control on the taskbar box is checked.

and/or

Go into Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs select the Windows Setup tab and
under System tools, tick the Volume Control box.

and/or

'Remove' any/all or your sound card(s) using Device Manager in Safe Mode.
Re-boot and let WinMe re-install your sound card drivers.
