Error message

When I boot up i get the following error message:

Avsynmgr has caused and error in MCSCAN32.DLL
Avsym mgr will now close.

When I click on close, the computer boots. I cannot get
into Excel or Word as I get the following messages:

Excel has caused anerror in MCSCAN32.DLL

The same for WORD.

How can I fix this problem?

This message is indicating that your McAfee AV application is having problems,
MCSCAN32.DLL being part of McAfee. Not having McAfee installed I cannot
comment about Avsynmng and am guessing that this is a McAfee function. Try
uninstalling and then reinstalling McAfee.
