Working on a friend's computer with Win98, reinstalled OS

If you have access to the web through another PC and it
has a CD Burner. Go to the sites needed and save programs
to a CD. Get a firewall also. Then go back to the one you
are working on and download the programs via the CD. You
need to order the Critical update CD from MS. For future
use as this. Also a CD with a basic free
firewall,AdAware,AVG and Spybot on it would help also.
I have noticed the same problem useing the IE version
that comes with 98SE. Once you get the upgrade to IE6 or 5
you will probly not have this problem. But it usually
worked to get to Windows update site.
