View Full Version : Windows ME Explorer Error Message

Fred

Am getting the following message about 2 minutes after
start-up...

"Explorer has caused an error in ~7669805252.tmp.
Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience
problems, try restarting your computer."

If you close the dialog box, the computer freezes and you
must then reboot.

Any help here is much appreciated!

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/CWShredder.exe

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

Fred, I have the same thing happening to me. I've
followed the suggestions for clean up and nothing has
helped. If you do anything that works, PLEASE let me
know!!

Thanks,

Which suggestions, where?
What *was* found?
What did you do about it?
