View Full Version : Genuine file??

After a very long update for NIS URL (2199.3b) which
should have lasted a few mins at the most, a pop up came
over and started to download "parental Control List...pls
wait" and after over half hour told me it had not
succeeded! I'm not supposed to get Parental Control - only
two adults -. After getting rid of the TEMP files and
Folders as you suggested, there was a new one: SUr6023 of
107,894,355 b. Very little info in its properties, had it
scanned and nothing found. Could this be the "parental
control" ??? or is it a genuine file and how come it can
be only found in the Window TEMP Folder. I think something
fishy. Can someone enlighten me pls. Tks again.

Norton Isn't Sufficiently Upon Real Life?

Might I suggest that you avail yourself of the opportunity to dump all
things Norton where they belong, and get programs that actually work WITH an
operating system, instead of ACROSS it!!

Not sure, but, I think the Parental Control is part of the Norton Internet
Security package......their website should be able to confirm this. If you
haven't paid for this yet, have you considered alternatives?
Re: the file in your Temp folder, I am guessing this is the setup file for
installation, although, at 107M, this would be typical of Norton's
bloatware. Unless you have already put out the $$$, I would highly suggest
looking at alternative software that will accomplish the same things (many
of them freeware), i.e. Zone Alarm for a firewall, AVG Grisoft antivirus,
etc.
Oh yeah, I am currently using NAV, myself. However, as soon as my
subscription is nearing expiration, I will be going to AVG (current
thought). If you look around the Newgroup, you will see a lot of posts with
regard to problems stemming from the Symantec products and Microsoft
Me......they don't seem to play well together. Just my opinion, I could be
wrong.

with NIS, but Noel as well as you and others gave me the
same advise: AV Grisoft and Zone alarm.
In the meantime do you have an educated guess as to
SUr6023 with 107 MB: genuine or scrap, Tks and merci.

I have Googled the socks off of that one and can't find anything on it. If
it is in the Temp folder, showed up right after your download, and doesn't
show anything in the Properties as to the origin......I'd stick in the
Recycle Bin for a few days and see what happens. Just a guess, but, I
would say it is probably safe to delete.
Heirloom, old and that's what I'd do
