View Full Version : Chirping sound

May 30th 04, 05:03 PM
For a considerable period of time my computer makes a
chirping sound (chirp, chirp, chirp; chirp, chirp, chirp;
chirp, chirp, chirp) periodically when it is on. I can be
on line or not.

The last two nights, exactly at midnight, the same
chirping sound emanates from my computer - even with the
computer off.

What's happening???

Read your motherboard manual re POST checks and error beep codes.

I can think of a couple things that might cause some strange behaviour,
though that's... well, pretty strange, but they're pretty diverse.

You may have a power supply problem.

Your modem may be relaying a sound from the phone line.

Your computer might be turning itself on partially (gotta rephrase that
somehow); check the BIOS for System Boot Time or something.

Do you have the Weather Bug Program installed on your
computer? It will make a churping sound. I had the same
problem, and it took me a month or so to figure it out. i
uninstalled it and no more churping
