For a considerable period of time my computer makes a
chirping sound (nine consecutive chirps) periodically when
it is on. I can be on line or not.

The last two nights, exactly at midnight, these same nine
chirps are AUDIBLE with the computer OFF. Help!!!!!!!!

Do you have a UPS connected to the system? It could be that the battery is
becoming bad........mine makes a chirping noise when the power goes out or
there is sufficient fluctuation. I doubt that your computer is making any
noise when it is shut down, must be something else.
Heirloom, old and is your canary still in the cage?

Can't be a ghost. They have a strict limit of THREE chirps.

Now, Heather, you know full well that it could be a 'trio' of ghosts and
that would account for the 9 chirps. Durn psychics, can't think of
anything......
heirloom, old and dang, lower case
