Recently we discussed this subject and I neglected to ask the question, how
this situation occurred in the first place.
I had assumed it was brought on by microsoft's critical update
but that wasn't the case.
What was it then that caused this to happen?
I was fine before that and am so again after fixing the situation
Just thought it might be helpful to know the cause..
Does anyone have an idea?

errr..... you mean getting a Windows SignIn prompt for no reason? Yeah,
probably the Update; mine comes back every once in a while when I update
stuff from M$.

Then I was right in the first place, Rick.
At least now I know how to fix it.
Thanks.

Harry.

Harry,

No, I've never seen any update from Microsoft cause a password box to be
presented when the system is next used.

Like to be able to say "that one" but I can't remember... I can
*definitively* point to my network card drivers which 'helpfully'
install MS-Networking when they're (re)installed... which of course adds
an extra reboot because I always forget to yank out NetBEUI before I
reboot to install the drivers.

Now that I can understand but not any critical update I've ever installed.

Then what might have caused the password box to come up, if not the update,
Mike? I really would like to know.
It happened right after installing some of the latest critical updates,
which led me to my conclusion.

Harry.
