Beginning yesterday, whenever I attempt to Shut Down the process locks-up an
shows a message saying that the file "suchostp" is running, then asks me to
continue with Shut Down or cancel. I found the file "suchostp" in the
Windows\System folder, but couldn't delete it because of a message saying
that it was being used by Windows.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

Thanks.

suchostp is not part of the Win Me operating system but instead a trojan.

Boot to safe mode, open MSConfig (Start, Run, enter MSConfig in the box and
click OK), open the Startup tab and then uncheck the line that is being used
to launch suchostp.exe each time you boot your PC.

Boot back into Normal Mode. Delete this file and then run a thorough check of
your system using your preferred antivirus application updated with a current
set of reference viral signatures.
