Windows Me & Msn Messenger

I reformatted my pc and installed win me on my laptop then
installed sound card and the rest.Then i installed msn 6.2
messenger and i cant hear any sounds involving messenger
at all(ie sign in sounds,sounds when people contact u etc)
ive looked into all options an yet all the green tick are
in the right boxes but still nothing.I think its got
something to to with windows schemes under sounds &
multimedia hmmmmmm.Any help plz Regards Mat
