When I try to use the Windows98 Troubleshooter I do the
following: Click Start, then Help, then Troubleshooter,
then I select the topic (Startup and Shutdown problems)
then I select the exact problem (my computer hangs up when
I try to shutdown Windows) Then I click NEXT.

I used to get a response to try different troubleshooting
techniques. NOW all I get is a blank screen. Did I
inadvertently hide the resonses? Or is there something
internally wrong with Windows98 Troubleshooting on my
computer?

Thanks
Don

Hi Don,
t is caused by a MS Critical Update.
The cure depends on what patch is causing you problems. Try this one first.
First, click Start> Settings> Folder Options> View tab, and click to enable
"Show All Files" and click OK.

Click Start> Find> File or Folders, and search the C:\ drive for a file
named Tshoot.inf...it should be found in the \Windows\Inf folder.
Right-click Tshoot.inf and click Install on the menu that appears.
Close the Find Files window and try the Troubleshooter again.

If still no joy,go to this page to get a download that
will get your Tshooters back, but be sure to read the text file that is
enclosed.

The first file on the list.
Post back here to let us know how it worked.
HTH,
Curt
