I have lately found that when trying to shut down,
generally after having been on the internet, that will
get a message that msgsrv32.exe has not finished shutting
down - so I click on wait - and wait and wait. Task
Manager shows that this program is not responding. So I
try again. Same thing happens. This ends up with me having
to press the reboot button on my machine and having to go
through scandisk. When I finally get back to the desktop,
I can then exit windows. I have no idea what this progam
does. Using SFC I have tried reinstalling it from my
original disc - the problem just recurs. Can anyone help
me?

I am getting really fed up with this annoyance.

Click Start>Run, type MSCONFIG and click OK.
On the General tab, click the Advanced button.
Click to put a check mark in the box for "Disable fast shutdown", and click OK.
Click OK to close Msconfig, and restart the computer.

If that does not help, or if the box was already checked or wasn't there, go here:
