I am running Win 98 SE in english and I have a program
that was written in korean. I am trying to install it on
my computer at home and I know it works because I
installed in on my computer at work with no problems,
which has Win2000. The problem isn't with the program
itself, but with the ascii characters that show up. Since
the program was written in Korean when I look at the files
and folders the names just show up as ascii characters
instead of the actual korean characters. That's not a
problem except that some of the files and folders have a ?
in them. For example a file name is \data\sprites\?\???
_hp.$#% Windows won't let you put a ? in a file name or
folder name. So every time I try to copy the file from
disk to my computer I get an error message saying there
can't be certain symbols in a file or folder name, like ?
\ / etc. At work on win2000 the ? actually looks like ⌂
instead of ? so there was no problem because you can have
⌂ in your folder name. I have tried to find some way to
enable/install korean language support on my computer so I
could actually see the characters and avoid this problem
but the only options that came with my win98 disk for
language support is like baltic, turkish, etc, there is
nothing for korean. I tried to search the microsoft
website for info but the only thing i can find is if you
want to type korean in like another application, outlook
express or word for example. I dont know what else to
do. any help would be appreciated.
