It would likely run a lot better with 32mb of RAM.

Besides my more modern everyday pc, I also have 4 older pc's (all networked)
my wife and kids use for various mundane/trivial stuff, a P90, P100, P120
and a Cyrix120. All running 98SE.

P90 , 40 megs ram - acceptable as proxy server for other 3 pc's, hard
disk(s) and printer(s) sharing
P100, 32 megs ram - acceptable for surfing using slow dialup, word
processing and not much more
P120, 32 megs ram - ditto
C120, 70 megs ram - ditto, BARELY acceptable but can overrun keyboard buffer
when typing, mouse lag is common etc. etc.

Compared to the others, the Cyrix takes AGES to boot but as it's basically a
486 that's no surprise. I recently up'd it from 16 megs ram and although it
helped (less swap file trashing), it wasn't enough to give any real
satisfaction.

All of them can play mp3's using an early version of WinAmp if you "tone
down" settings, e.g. mono, 1/2 quality etc..

I'd suggest "your" pc should be a P200 or faster before spending any cash on
it, otherwise it'd be better to invest in another 2nd hand unit instead.
