View Full Version : Spool 32 Error Message Appearing In Safe Mode Startup

can't even get the bugger to open in safe mode now. All
this arising out of Excel refusing to open and giving me a
USER.EXE error message that I was trying to correct.

Anyone have any idea what's going on and how to get past
this error, even when it appears in Safe Mode startup?

I have a Dell desktop and Windows 98 SE operating system.

Thanks for any advice or help!

And the complete error message is...?

Update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From now on,
do both daily.

Couldn't even get to detail to try and find the rest of
the problem. Had to call MS Support to go through a whole
set of motions to access the system. FINALLY got system
to load icons and get to the point where I could access
internet, files, etc, but still find myself with the
original problem...namely, trying to open Excel. Getting
the error message that a fatal excetption occurred at
017F:BFF9DFF and that current application will be
terminated.

More than a little frustrating, as you might imagine.
Have reinstalled Office 2000 Small Business, and loaded
patches in updates, all to no avail. Any ideas?

BTW, as for virus definitions, I have Norton which updates
daily.

(Original msg on bottom)

It seems to be solved !

Through Windows Update I downloaded and installed a revision of
DiretcX 9 , the b, and from then on I had no other crashes with the
"error 0E at 0197:BFF9DFFF".
Now are three days and I start thinking it could be solved !
Of course I have no double check, neither I want ... go back.
Anyhow for the sake of others !

Best Regards
Manlio
