View Full Version : Windows 98SE CD-Rom

I need a Windows 98SE CD-Rom. I cannot find the CD-ROM
supplied by Gateway for my computer and Gateway says they
cannot supply another. I need the CD-ROM to install a
file 'secur32.dll' required by Actiontec DSL modem. Any
help will be appreciated.

If your Win98SE was factory installed by Gateway, look for a folder
c:\windows\options\cabs. That folder contains what's on the CD.
If it's there, point your modem installer there when it asks for the CD.
If you still need a CD, try Ebay.

If that folder is there and it works to install what you
need I also might suggest that you back this directory up
to a CD.

You may also want to create a windows recover disk and
backup your whole system files. This may allow you to re-
install the system if you ever need to. Lets hope you
never do without the disk. It is almost impossible.
