Partitioning HD

I was thinking about partitioning my HD and was
wondering what problems that could include. Would I be
able to save programs in the portion seperate from which I
would be running windows in? Say, If I wanted to use a
Popup killer and saved it D:\ partition, would there be
any conflicts even though Windows is in C:\ partition? Is
there any truth that if the files are saved in the
seperate partition from windows OS, your files are safe
from viruses? Thank you so kindly for your help!!!

Partitioning a harddrive destroy all data on the drive.

Note: If a harddrive is already partitioned with multiple partitions, there
is generally little need to repartition the drive unless you want to change
the size of the partitions. If you want a clean install then it is
generally ok to just format the partition windows was installed on.

You can save data on another harddrive but not on the one your partitioning.

Most programs can be installed on any partition. They will give you the
choice as to were to install them during installation (some does not give
you the choice). Typically the default will be \program files on the same
partition were windows is installed.

Note: Even if you install a program on another partition, the program may
still install files in one of the folders in \windows.

Your files are not safe from viruses if installed on a different partition
from the operating system.

The better safe guard for viruses is a good virus application which should
be updated at least once a week

Partitioning a hard drive destroy all data on the drive???? Using fdisk =
yes. Using Partition Magic NO!
