when i was using windows xp, i can access to both hard drives (C & D). Now
after reformating the drive C (master drive) and reinstalling windows 98, i
am unable to see 2nd hard disk (D) thru my computer or windows explorer. But
when i start the computer & before windows 98 starts, it says two hard
drives (1 master & 1 slave). i copied all my datas to the 2nd drive (D)
before formating 1st drive (C). Now my C drive is having windows 98 program
only and i am unable to use any of my data from the other hard disk.

highly appreciate if anyone can help me.

The most likely case for this to happen is that the second drive was
formatted using NTFS file system which would not be seen by win98.

Try Fdisk /status and see what it says.

If this is the case you may need a third party utility to convert the drive
from ntfs to FAT32 in order to be able to get your data. Another option
would be to install winXP on the C drive. Then save the important data to
another source like CDs etc. WinXP will not allow you to convert NTFS back
to FAt32
