Can anyone help me out with this ?
I am a dumb blonde running windows 98.

Hello, I'm experiencing a problem with my CD-ROM drive.
When I put any kind of CD in the D:\ drive, I get an
error
message saying "D:\ is not accessible. The device is not
ready." I cannot do anything about it, by using a CD as
obviously the CD drive doesn't work, so I can't fix this
problem! any help
would be appreciated!!!

In addition to the problem stated below - when I try and
run a Virus scan and scandisk/disk defragmentor - a window
states - 'Drive locked by a disc utility1.

Help !

Have you run 'Add/Remove Hardware' from Control Panel to
see if windows will recognize the D drive? The try a CD.
Also via Control Panel - System /Device
Manager/CDRom/properties does it say the device is working
properly? Does it also say that the driver is OK?
