I'm running Windows 98 SE and when I restarted my computer
scandisk started but did not complete scanning my hard
disk. At 80 % in stopped and gave me the following
message, "ScanDisk detected an invalid long filename entry
on this drive but was unable to fix it. To fix this
problem run Scandisk for Windows." But I'm unable it
complete scandisk and I have to reboot and the same thing
happens again. What do I do to fix this problem.

Hi Paul,
The reason Scandisk is telling you yo run it in Windows is because the DOS
version that is running at boot-up cannot handle Long File Names.
Re-boot your computer, and when Scandisk starts to run hit the X key to exit
Scandisk, and let Windows boot. Now run Scandisk within Windows. Let us
know if that works.
HTH,
