HDD not recognised by W98

I have just installed a 40GB hdd in my computer on an 80
strand cable together with the existing 4GB hdd.
The POST recognises both drives and, in the table, shows:
Pri master LRG, Mode 4, 3.86 MB
Pri slave LDA, UDMA 2, 41,111MB.
But the second hdd doesn't show up in My Computer nor in
Windows Explorer.
Can anyone help, please.

you need to run fdisk and partition the new drive

then reboot and format it
