Vertical vs Horizontal Mounted HDD

Hi,

With a horizontal mounted HDD, gravity may be pulling
down the heads (top sides of platters) closer to the platter
surface? If this is true, then a vertically mounted HDD is
better?

The design of hard drives is such that they can be mounted either way
- horizontal or vertical. Horizontally mounted drives can be
inverted. Vertically mounted drives can have any of the 4 edges as
the bottom.

What cannot be done with hard drives is to mount them on an angle
because then the gravity effect creates angular forces that the
bearings are not designed to withstand.
