I accidently deleted my VMM32\fsmgr.vxd file and now when my computer tries
to boot up it gives me a few error messages about not finding this file,
tells me to hit any key to continuem, and shuts down.

I tried the EXT function off of the boot disk and all it looks for are .CAB
files off of the win98SE disk.

I told it to look
E:\WIN98
to look for
Vmm32\ifsmgr.vxd
to put it
C:\windows\system

and it looked for a bunch of .cab files and said that it could not find a
match.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I am doing wrong and how to fix
this mess?

This will be option #2

What I found in another discussion group is that I was trying to extract and
relocate the file to the wrong place and that is why it was not found.

I should have been looking only for ifsmgr.vxd not Vmm32\ifsmgr.vxd
and been relocating it to C:\windows\system\Vmm32 not just C:\windows\system.

Unfortunitly our production group needed the computer and I had to put a
ghost drive on until they get done and will let me try again. Hopefully here
over lunch and I will have good news.

Well I got it figured out. My fix was to boot from the WIN98 boot disk and
have the WIN98 CD in. I booted with CD support. At the DOS prompt I used the
EXT function.
I was able to extract the correct file from the disk and put it in the
correct location. I also found that I had to extract the IOS.vxd file as
well. Once I did this I can now boot into windows normally.

Thank you for all of your help!!
