Hi,

I reformated the hard drive, my son had all kinds of bugs on the computer.

Immediately after reformatting, windows 98 se won't even load, it goes to
the blue screen of death with all kinds of VXD messages,

Fatal error exception 0D

0028:c00014AD in VXDVMM(01) + 000004AD
0028:c000B2D4 in VXDVMM(01) +0000A2D4
0028:c000BAB9 in VXDVMM(01) +0000AAB9

an exception OE

0028:C0003E25 in VXDVMM(01) +0002E25
This was called from
0028:c14265BA in VXD VTDI + 000000BA

Any help would be greatly appreciated on how I can fix this issue.

You obviously did not reformat the hard drive.
If you had, your drive C: would be empty thus incapable
of loading Windows. You have to reinstal the Windows
operating system first. In order:
1. Read first
http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/w98_restore.html
and make a personal list (of product Key etc.)
2. Get the correct booting floppy from
www.bootdisk.com
and test it before use, i.e. boot from the floppy
and verify that it can read CD drive(s) etc.
3. Use FDISK first to repartition the drive (in case
your son picked up a boot sector virus) then
FORMAT C:
4. Reinstal Windows via SETUP.EXE on the CD.

I assume that you meant that you formatted the drive
then reinstalled Windows.

Looks like you have a hardware problem
and that may be why Windows was not working in the first place.

First thing I'd do is run a RAM test
or substitute with known good RAM

Well, it's definitely worth a try to do it all over again as Phillipson
suggested. Also, to test RAM as philo suggested...
