Firefox 2 supported in 98 and Firefox 3 not supported in 98

There is confusion out there even by Chris Quirke which I aim to correct.
Mozilla Firefox 2 is still supported by Windows 98. Mozilla Firefox 3 is not
supported by Windows 98. Mozilla Firefox 2.x is scheduled for end of life at
the end of the year as is paid AVG 7.5 version for Windows 98. I hope that
clears the confusion in the hazy and smokey air and the blue azure sky and
white fluffy clouds are clearly visible again from within Dreamland.

Firefox is the most overrated program around. IMO it sucks.
Opera rules, or for /REALLY/ fast 100% safe browsing (no java,
scripts, flash, etc. recognized/processed), OffByOne.

ESET NOD32 is the best AV program around. It was under $20 at
www.purplus.com a little while ago, may still be.

Opera 9.5x has some serious resource issues. I recommend sticking with
9.27 until the bugs are fixed. OffByOne, OTOH, is great, especially
for viewing ad-infested web sites. To this end I have added "open page
in OffByOne" and "open link in OffByOne" options to Opera's r-click
menus, as well as IE and Firefox options.

Out of curiosity, I tried Opera 7.54 after years of using 7.23.
It was SO much of a resource hog (this is a 95B 166MHz/96 RAM in
case you forget) and it had so many different features I was
surprised they didn't call it ver 8.x.

After 3 days I went back to 7.23.

I have NO idea what any of the other version - prior or later
are like.

I use OB1 all the time except when I am forced to go to some
stupid java-loaded site, like my bank.

Opera is junk, imo, because it has no 256 bit AES encryption and I don't care
for its interface. In addition, it lacks the amount of good ad ons that
Mozilla Firefox has and I also don't care for Apple's Safarii because it also
lacks 256 bit AES encryption and has too many security vulnerabilities like
Apple's Quicktime associated with it in Microsoft Windows.

Exactly and even in Mozilla Firefox version 2.0.0.16 is better than Firefox
3.x until Mozilla can work out the bugs in it and get it to work well with
their add-ons. However, Mozilla Firefox 3 does have better safety and
security if that is your only goal but does not work with Windows 98 or 98
Second Edition.

I also don't like when web sites like certain banking sites and also school
sites want Java because you always have to update it so frequently because of
security issues and then remove the old version because Sun Java does not
want to do that for you automatically because I am sure they want as much of
their software taking up space on your computer as possible or it is just
because of a lack of interest on Sun's part. Just a guess on my part as to
why Sun Java does not automatically remove their older versions.
