Ever since i've installed my new cdrw drive, it takes
windows longer to load the My Computer window and also to
refresh when I take out a CD. usually I have to press the
F5 key. Why does this happen?

Thanx.

What type of drive: Internal or Extrernal?
What make of drive?

Any time you have a disk in a CD drive (internal or external), it has to read the disk so that it
can respond to any query you might have. As for the length of time when removing the disk it also
has to check whether or not the same disk is in the drive, whether a new one has been inserted, or
it is empty.

What may help is to add more RAM and/or free resources (cut down on running apps). Additionally you
can empty the Temp folder, Recycle Bin and Temp. Internet Files. Might be helpful to Defrag too.

Its actually a Lite-on internal cd-rw drive. It seems to
do it when there isn't even a disc in the drive.
