java script windows

No such thing as "java script". It's JavaScript.

Do other JavaScript effects still happen? (If you know what these are....)

Accidentally disabled active scripting in the Security section of
Internet Options? Got your machine into the hands of someone who
installed a popup blocker? (The latter should only block windows that
appear without you telling them to, but they're not always perfect....)
