Two weeks ago I tried to install an Intellipoint wheel
mouse. I used a PS/2 to Serial adapter to connect. I could
not get this to work, so I uninstalled the software and
went back to my old serial mouse. Everything was back to
normal. Yesterday, two weeks later, I turned my computer
on and the mouse does not work at all! I checked the
Device Manager to see the mouse status and there is no
mouse listed in the Device Manager! I did absolutely
nothing in the past two weeks to have this problem. I did
not remove any drivers or anything like that. HELP!

Try, to check if you can use the new mouse:
A- 1) Unplug the mouse and reboot;
2) Check if is no mouse on the device manager;I it is, remove any
reference to the mouse;
3) Plug the NEW mouse;
4) Reboot;
5) If it's now working, you don't need to
continue reading; If not, continue;
B- 1) Unplug the mouse and reboot;
2) Plug the old mouse;
3) Reboot;
4) In the device manager, remove the OLD mouse;
5) Unplug the mouse;
6) Now plug the NEW mouse;
7) Reboot;
8) If the mouse isn't working, you may have hardware
conflicts. But, you cannot use any PS/2 port? If yes try
doing the steps A1 to A3 using the PS/2 port. If no, try
the same steps with the old mouse.

Say if it results.
