The control and shift key in my microsoft office programs
and explorer will not allow me to select more than one
file or object. They typically work correctly on other
computers, so I was wondering if there was a setting for
this in the Windows setup that maybe got turned off or if
there is another problem.

Thanks for the help!!!

In what mode are you trying to use such, the exploring pane or the folder
pane? If trying to select more than one in the exploring pane, you can
only do one folder at a time, but if you do such within a folder, you can
achieve what you want.

Have you tried a different keyboard?

Or even the Shift and Ctrl keys on the other side of the keyboard?

Stewart.

My e-mail is valid but not my primary mailbox, aside from its being the
unfortunate victim of intensive mail-bombing at the moment. Please keep

I am using it in folder- I know that I am doing it
correctly, because the exact same action works on my other
computer. Also the control key does work with other
shortcuts.

I have used the keys on the other side, but the control
and shift key work for all other purposes-so why would
they only not work in this case?

Something screwy with the program, or the registry settings, perhaps even
the driver. Once upon a time, I came across a website that had all sorts
of registry tweaks aimed at securring a computer for whatever reasons, even
disabling Regedit. That might have happened. Unfortunately the location
of the page wherein I saved it to resides on a backup set of disks and is
a royal pain trying to remember which one.
