View Full Version : USB Flash Drive not working....

Well yesterday I bought a USB drive for a great price $50 for 4 Gig. Anyways
I wanted to try it on my Win98 computer. It didn't connect and asks for
driver. Of course I looked around the booklet for the website to where I can
download the driver (www.flashdrivememory.com). I installed it and restarted
the computer. But when I connected again nothing happened. Then I went and
accessed the Add Hardware icon in the Control Panel and looked for the USB
drive. Afterwards, I tried to update driver and go to the root of where the
driver is, but it didn't detect it. What's wrong? I need a fast reply.

Have you confirmed that the driver you downloaded and installed was for
Windows 98?

Was USB working on this machine before you installed the driver, and if so,
is it still working?

Unplug the device. Boot to safe mode and from device manager remove
everything connected with the USB mass storage device. Reboot. Re-install
the software and then plug the device back in.

Win98 original or Win98SE?

USB support in Win98 original was pretty flakey and most USB devices
and device drivers work with 98SE only.

Good luck

Try the universal Maximus Decim USB drivers:
