MDAC - Update / Install

I just installed a PDF Converter from ScanSoft.

It said I needed to update my MDAC to version 2.5 or later.
I went to the www.microsoft.com/data site where it
indicated.

After downloading the MDAC, there was an error msg. saying
that it could not determine the current version of MDAC
installed.

What do I do ?

Did you install MDAC after downloading it, and did you reboot after installing?
