Try checking if the CD-ROM drives are configured on BIOS. If aren't, at
computer startup press the correct key (normally, appears a text such as
"Hit DEL to run setup.") to enter setup. Find the Auto-Detect option in
IDE drives configuration area. I think that Auto-Detect is only for hard
drives, but, in my computer, it was detected two CD-ROM drives plus the
hard drive I wanted to detect.

This may help, but, if your problem are in Windows, try go to the
"Devices Manager", find for any problematic item (if it exists, it's
automatically shown) and reinstal their drivers.

Can't do anything about the CD-ROM drive.
Try AVG (http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php).
