View Full Version : How to repair my sound troubleshooter?

May 13th 04, 08:21 PM
When I go in to help and select my sound troubleshooter
and choose a problem I do not receive any solution I just
get a blank screen. I am trying to find out what is the
matter with my CD drive, it plays the CD but I don't hear
any sound. Please help.

Did you recently install a security update?

If so, get the TS work around fix at:
http://mvps.org/PracticallyNerded/SoftFixes.htm

If not, do a find on your hard drive for: tshoot.inf If it is not found,
open Explorer and on the toolbar click, View, Folder Options and View tab.
Mark the box, Show all files. Do the find again. When found, right click
the file and select install.

It started when? Try open the computer chassis and see if exists a slim
round cable (~2mm tickness) connecting the CD-ROM to the sound card. If
not, this is your problem, if not, in windows, go to Start > Run and
enter "sndvol32" (without "). Then find if it's anything "in mute".

I hope this helps you.
