Used Windows 98 DirectX diagnostics where:
Sound1--Creative SBPCI Direct Sound Driver
Sound2--Avance AC'97 Audio
Sound3--Game compatible device
Sound4--Voice modem wave
Music--Microsoft synthesizer
All of these items passed DirectX diagnostics (there were
output on the speakers for test signals used)
There's no muted item in my volume controls.
From Control Panel-->Sounds...choosing 'preview' tab on
the selected events give output to speakers.
From Control Panel-->System-->Sound,video,Game controllers-
->Properties...Sound Blaster Audio PCI & Avance AC'97
Audio driver for Intel devices are working properly.
When playing video-CD, movie clips from CD-ROM drive where
WindowsMediaPlayer 7.01 is used, video is fine but there's
no sound at all. Likewise, when playing audio CDs on CD-
ROM drive using WMP there's no output on the speakers.
But when using 'Quick Time Player' w/c converts movie
clips associated with WMP sound/audio is fine.
Do i need to update my sound drivers?
Is there a way to correct the registry error that pops-up
from Tools-->Options-->Format...of WindowsMediaPlayer
window?
