View Full Version : Motherboard w/ onboard Sound

I have an older Compaq computer P3-550 with the sound
attached to the motherboard.

First,I would prefer to stick with the onboard sound so as
not to add a PCI card. The problem is that when I did a
clean install of WIN98SE I lost the drivers for the
onboard sound. Can someone point me in a direction to get
the drivers. The computer is a Compaq Presario 5736 P3-
550. I believe the chipset on the motherboard is from VIA,
if that helps.

Let me know if you need other information.

Second, if I go ahead and attach the C-Media PCI Sound
card that I have, do I have to turn off the onboard sound
ability before the sound card works properly?

Again let me know if any other information would be
helpful in order to solve the problem.

Thanx for your help.
