One thing to do would be to go to start/setting/folder options/file
types, and find what is associated with .jpg or .jpeg, whichever you
mean.

It probably has the wrong application in it. How to know what you
want it to have isn't the easiest thing, expecially because I never
know whether to check the DDE box or not and what to put in those
fields if I do check it. Also, when there are parmameters to use on
the "Application used to perform action" line, plus one probably has
to have "%1" to represent the name of the file, I haven't been sure
which goes first, the parameters or the "%1" .

But if you know what program you want to use to read your jpeg files,
you can install the program again and that should take care of jpeg.
It might also make that program the default program for other file
types (and that's why it is better to be able to edit the file types
fields directly.)

Some programs have in their preferences a choice of what file types
they apply to. If jpeg is not checked, I think checking it will only
reset the jpeg association.

You don't say if your pc ever did this right or what all you have
installed or done since the last time it worked.

Also let us know what is in file types for jpeg and what program you
want to use to view them.
