Hi Mike,

Just wanted to report that we successfully got System Restore working
thanks to your assistance.

My friend did not have the Show Hidden Files option checked and as a
result he could not locate the c:\_restore folder.

We finally found it, renamed it, then deleted it and created a restore
point with no problems.

Thanks for the feedback and I'm pleased to read that you've solved the
problem and managed to create a manual checkpoint. May I suggest that you
or your friend perform the following quick test to verify that in fact all
is OK.

a) Create a shortcut on the desktop to a file.
b) Create a manual checkpoint
c) Delete the shortcut
d) Restore you PC to the checkpoint you created.
Was the shortcut restored? Did you see any error messages?
