I had an MP3 given to me & have tried to install the program on the computer.
I am running Win98SE for which a disc was supplied to install the
appropriate driver. I have managed to install this, however the program did
not install. I have clicked on the three .exe files, two of which say they
already exist but the third came up with the message 'wrong OS or wrong OS
version'. As far as I can tell it is the correct OS. Can anyone tell me
what the problem is & how to correct it so I can start using my player?
Thanks

What program did not install? What file did you click on that told you
wrong OS? I suspect that this particular file is not for the version of
Windows that you are running.

What player are you trying to install? Have you been to their web site to
see if there is a download for your version of Windows?

Hi, the actual program required to use the player i.e. transfer music from
computer to player has not loaded. The file that was the wrong OS is
InstMsiW.exe. The player I am trying to install is an Aigo A205,
unfortunately their web site has no downloads, only a customer support email
facility which I have contacted but have not received a reply.

It sounds like you are attempting to install the Windows NT version rather
than the Win98 version of this file. Here is a link to the Win98 version.

http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/wininstall.html

I don't know that it will fix your problem but this is the first step I'd
try.

My grandson has an I-Pod and in trying to download music
to it I found that it isn't compatible with Win98? Are you saying
this patch you recommended will allow downloads on a Win98 or
Win Me system?
