I've added a NIC to this Win98 machine which I want to add
to a workgroup using a fixed IP address. When I click on
Specify an IP address, I can't get the "IP Address:" field
to get focus. Nor the subnet mask. No flashing cursor;
nothing. If I type in the field, I get a bell. I can
switch between "Obtain" & "Specify" easily. There is a
dial-up adapter also installed. Any suggestions?

That is caused by the fonts not fitting in the IP number input boxes. Try
these:

1. Reset your desktop theme and screen item sizes to Windows Default (small
fonts)
2. If the above fails try upgrading your video drivers.
