I have an old HP Pavilion computer using WIN98. For the
first time I am trying to add a new printer to the USB
Port.
When I connected it, I got a message that says I have to
install the "Human Interface Port." In going through the
Wizard it comes to a point where it wants to install the
following driver:
c:\WINDOWS\INF\HIDDEV.INF
To do this it says I need to insert my Windows 98 CD-ROM
in order to get a file, HIDDEV.CAT.
However, I never got a Windows 98 CD-ROM with this
computer. It only gave me 2 recovery discs to reinstall
all the software that came with the computer.
Is there some other way I can get the files I need and
complete this installation?
Apparently, the USB port on the computer is not active
without going through this procedure because the computer
doesn't "see" the new printer.
HELP!!!
