I have an older system and am using 98SE. Cable internet on USB, scanner on USB, the two will not work simultaneously.I can only use one or the other and I sometimes need both. I am still kind of computer illiterate. Can someone please patiently help me solve this dilemma. Thanx

Try purchasing a powered USB hub - one that comes with a wall plug so it can
supply its own power. The USB hub built into your computer can often only
supply enough power for one or two small devices or perhaps only one big one
at a time.

Sounds like the combination simultaneious use is flooding your current USB
bus. If you have more than two ports, try moving one to a 3rd or 4th port.
Else, you may have to get a USB 2.0 card.
