Help loading Windows using DOS prompt

My secondary system is still running on Win95. Yesterday at startup, it said
to insert a bootable media in the appropriate drive. I did that, using my
up-to-date 95/98 system startup disk. At A:/ prompt, I changed to C: drive,
but got the message to insert disk 2 into cd-rom drive. (The Command.exe
works fine because I succeeded in doing a scandisk /all /surface scan with no
errors or corrrupt files found.) When I typed in sys c: and sys.com, I got
back a message to insert disk 2 into drive A:/.
Problem: My system came pre-installed with Win95----so, are there any other
DOS commands that will restore windows to desktop?

It sounds like your hard drive is not being recognized by the system. If
you go into the BIOS setup, does the system see the drive?

Sys c: should not be asking for anything when you run it. If the drive is
seen, you should be getting a message that the system was transferred.

Does your hard drive use drive overlay? If you don't have the floppy disk
in the drive when you attempt to boot, do you see any messages as you boot
about pressing a key or key combination to boot from a floppy? This allows
your drive overlay to load, then will boot to your floppy drive and you will
be able to see the hard drive.

If you boot from floppy and then type: dir c: what do you see? It
should be a listing of the files on your hard drive. If it isn't, then the
drive is not being recognized at that point.

If your system came pre-installed, then you should have either a Windows
installation disk (CD) or a restore or recovery CD that will put the system
back as it was when you purchased it. To run this, you need to follow the
instructions from the manufacturer because each one does their own restore
or recovery. The CD is often bootable and the system restore will start
automatically when you boot with this CD. You may have to configure your
system (in the BIOS) to look first at the CD drive when booting.
