View Full Version : USB Port Problem

I have a Dell Optiplex GXi which has 2 USB ports.

It is a few years old but until now I have never needed to make use of
the USB ports because my printer used the parallel port.

I have now bought a Lexmark Z25 printer which uses the USB port but
cannot get the PC to recognise either of the 2 USB ports.

When I access "Systems Information" and click on USB, the system says
that there are no USB devices despite there being 2 ports.

How do I configure the 2 ports?

I have Windows 98.

Alternatively, is there a "USB to Parallel" converter that I can buy
that allows me to access the Lexmark printer via the parallel port?

You'll need to check your Dell owner's manual or the Dell web site to find
out how to be sure the ports are enabled in BIOS (hardware) setup, and to
download drivers for the ports.
