Windows ME reboots at shutdown

I recently installed ZoneAlarm Security Suite. Since then, whenever I
shutdown windows, about 2/3 of the times windows reboots or the hard drive
fan stays on.
Windows then gives me a message that it did not shutdown properly and scan
disk runs.
I contacted ZoneAlarm and they told me to shut down the Security Suite
before shutting down windows but the problem still remains.
Has anyone else had this problem and have they been able to resolve it.
