Is there an alternative?

Hi all

Recently I have had to reinstall the OS.

Previously I had a very simple zip facility, just right-click a file or
files, > send to >
zipped folder.

Now I have a very colourful program, an evaluation of Winzip, with so many
buttons to click, before you get what you want!

Is there a default zip programme hiding somewhere, or do I need to pay for
this "Winzip" horror?

Why not use Win Me's Compressed Folders? Add/Remove Programs | Windows
Setup | System Tools. Click Details, check Compressed Folders, OK and
then Apply.

As for WinZip being a horror, all you need do is turn off the fancy
coloured buttons and you will get a very useful tool.

Thanks for that, I knew it was in there somewhere!

I am not averse to paying for useful utilities, but for the very few
times that I use zip files, I feel the windows default is more than
adequate.

[Heirloom]

The 'super box' is working great.....thanks G. Nary a hiccup since
completion....can't ask for more than that. I still have Acronis True
Image for complete backup, just in case. I'm really impressed with the
Raid 0 config. The only thing that slows me down now is this durn 5 Meg
internet connection <g>.
I really like the arjfolder........have tried a number of others, but, like
it the best of what I have used.
Heirloom, old and gotta work in the
heat all weekend......ugh.
